Fondant Icing Roses Cake.

I have wanted to try my hand at cake decorating for a while. There are so many amazing creations made with fondant icing. My friend who is good at sculpting (usually with paperclay) taught me to make roses out of fondant.

So for Mother’s Day, I helped my friend bake a cake, using white chocolate mud cake as a base, and decorated with fondant icing roses.

Used food colouring to make white fondant into different colours. Then sculpt away.

All the roses made. My friend made the pretty ones, and mine are the wonky ones...

I have a leaf mould but they are tiny. Only the large, free-hand ones were used in the end.

Making the roses was the most time consuming part; but covering the mud cake with fondant and making it neat was the most difficult part!

Assembled. Photographed with poor lighting, since the cake was made at night and had to be gifted straight away.
