Sock Monkey.

Sock monkeys came into the plushmaking scene quite a few years back, and it wasn’t until now that I finally gave it a go.

It’s so fun to make. Actually, I own a few craft books dedicated to making plush from socks. Now I want to make more!

Open one sock, flatten it the other way, then cut a line from the cuff to just before the heel.

Turn it over to the wrong side out, sew the sides (I used blanket stitch), turn back to the right side and stuff away.

Cut the other sock to make 2 hands, a tail, the mouth and 2 ears.

In hindsight, I'd make the tail thinner - about half the width of the arms. They are way too thick here, and just looks like another arm or leg!

Sew the snout on, and stuff.
Sew the snout (the heel of the other sock) on, and stuff firmly. Sew the arms and ears on.

I wonder if it would look better or worse if I sew on nostrils?

    1. Hello and thank you! Yes and there are many other creatures you can make from socks, not just monkeys. But the Sock Monkey is the original, to my knowledge :)
