A long overdue update!
For the past year or so, I have been thinking a lot about this blog. I started it in 2009 before a major life change, and since then, I’ve had even more changes, and more significant. I’m not the type of person to talk about my emotions and feelings in a public space, so I’m sure my posts may come across as detached or distant, and do not adequately reflect how I have changed over the years. I guess I started this blog mainly to document my projects, and to that purpose it served well.
I have met lovely crafty people through my blog and Instagram, and I feel truly lucky to have the encouragement and support of so many kind, like-minded, generous and talented people who are almost all strangers to each other to begin with, connected by our shared passion. Now I call many of them friends.
In the context of a craft/sewing blog, I am not a person of words. Apart from literally writing a technical record of my projects and the process, I have little to write or talk about. Even I think my posts are getting boring! I do spend hours writing up each post though, including collating the information, editing the photos, writing, proofreading, formatting etc. I now feel that, at my current life stage, it is no longer sustainable for me to continue the blog, with the little spare time I have. I would also like to invest more energy on my family and work :)
The posts I had most fun writing up, and am the happiest about, are the Fabric Shopping around the world series. They bring back lovely memories for me, and sometimes they help fellow travelling fabric lovers who arrive at those posts after searching up on Google.
I am proud of this blog, and it’s time to move on! It will free up my time to do actual sewing. Or a cleaner house…? Some sleep? I’m expecting another baby as well! Anyhow, I will be less stressed, and I will still be recording my makes – on Pattern Review and Instagram (@mauve.cloud.studio), which I plan to continue. I’ll see you there!
Whether you’re a regular reader or just visiting my blog for the first time, I sincerely thank you for reading. And to those who have supported me over the years – I send you my gratitude from the bottom of my heart. I am confident that we will continue to support each other’s creative journeys and endeavours, no matter what form they take.
